BUSINESS TIPS
Written by: Michelle Caba, CEO Fama Agency
The job market can be unpredictable and at this time of the year, it's not uncommon for people to start thinking about layoffs and job security. I know, because I was once in that very same position. Sitting at my desk, staring at the clock, and wondering if my name would be on the list. But, instead of letting that fear consume me, I decided to take control of my career and start thinking about my transferable skills.
I began by reflecting on my past job experiences and the tasks I had performed, the skills I had developed, and the problems I had solved. I realized that I had a wealth of experience in project management, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. These skills were transferable to a wide range of industries and could be used to start my own business.
I also took a skills assessment to better understand my strengths and weaknesses. This helped me to identify areas where I needed to improve and focus on developing my skills further.
With this newfound understanding of my transferable skills, I began researching potential business opportunities. I looked at the market, the competition, and the potential demand for my products or services. I discovered that there was a huge demand for brand and business consulting services and that was my calling.
In conclusion, layoffs can be a concern but don't let that hold you back from taking control of your career. Instead, use this time to discover your transferable skills, conduct a skills assessment, and research potential business opportunities. You never know, you might just discover your dream business and be on your way to becoming your own boss. Learn more about our Style Your Business Digital Course for entrepreneurs.
